At The Nine Columbia, the pool and deck anchor the outdoor layout, creating a central gathering space within our University of South Carolina student housing community. The water features, lounge seating, fire elements, dog park, and lawn-style games are arranged in connected sections. After a long day of classes on campus, it becomes a place to unwind with friends, meet neighbors, or take a study break in the fresh air. On weekends, the space shifts into a social hub where residents can relax between game days, group projects, and everything else that comes with student life in Columbia.
What Outdoor Amenities Are Available?
- Resort-style pool
- Tanning shelf
- Outdoor fire pit
- Hammock lounge
- Dog park
Pool and Tanning Shelf
The resort-style pool anchors the deck area. A built-in tanning shelf creates a shallow ledge within the water, allowing residents to sit partially submerged rather than fully swimming. The surrounding deck provides room to walk, gather, and relax near the water. Seating is positioned around the pool, keeping the outdoor space visually connected. During football season at the University of South Carolina, it becomes a popular meeting spot before heading toward Williams-Brice Stadium or a convenient place to cool off the next day. On quieter weekdays, residents use it as a low-key break between classes, group projects, and campus events.
Fire Pit, Lawn Games, and Hammock Lounge
An outdoor fire pit creates a focal point on the deck, especially in the evening. Seating is arranged around the fire feature to encourage small group conversations. The hammock lounge provides suspended seating slightly separated from the main pool traffic, creating a quieter corner for reading or relaxing. For students living in our USC off-campus housing, having multiple activity zones within one outdoor layout adds variety. On fall weekends in Columbia, the fire pit becomes a comfortable place to wind down after a Gamecocks game or gather with friends the night before kickoff. During the week, the hammock area offers a calm spot to read through notes or take a break between classes at the University of South Carolina, without leaving the property.
Dog Park
The dog park provides a designated outdoor area for pets within the property. The open space allows dogs to run and play without leaving the community. Its on-site location makes quick outdoor breaks more convenient during busy class days or evening study sessions.
